The second day I woke up early and departed from Miri very early. I did this to avoid the long queue at the check points esp. Kuala Lurah and temburong ferry.

Driving in Brunei highway is fun and interesting. The road is very good. Most Bruneian cars go very fast. I just don't care about them. I don want to get caught by the police. But the pictures below are the short cut route to Limbang. First u will see the electricity line and Tanjung Maya in front. Get ready to make a u turn.

Below are the pictures showing the entrance to the Jerudong Park. Ya, I chose to use the long route coz the short cut, limau manis was flooding. It was raining n lowland was affected. Be extra alert of the signs and landmarks in this area coz its confusing. After get thr' Kuala Lurah proceed to Limbang and there u can have your lunch . As for me I prefer Sarimah curry house. The food is very nice and delicious. Price is not a problem when travelling.

This is the usual scene we have to encounter. It is at the Temburong/Lawas waiting to go on board ferry which is only 40 metres across the river. People from both countries have been cursing the authorities for not doing any actions to solve the long queue on both side of the roads. But I have manage to get thr' this queue by departing very early from my house or hotel.

Below is Mengkalap Immigration checkpoint at Lawas. It is very new and you can visit the wash room here. Down is also the Trusan bridge which completed in the mid of 2010. Before this we had to queue for at least one hour to cross Trusan River by ferry.

At this stage we had reached Sindumin, Sabah. I was grateful that the journey went smoothly without any unwanted incident. In the background was Mr Simson, his wife, his mother and father in law. It was their first time driving all the way from Kuching. So, when asked he said that he would make it an annual routine like me.

This is my latest driving experience from Kuching, Sarawak to Kota Kinabalu via Brunei. In this first part of the journey which takes one whole day, I really feel that I am committed to the journey. There is no regret coz my in laws are at the other end. Therefore, I prefer driving to flying from Kuching to KK. Its nice seeing the other parts of the land, experiencing other cultures and enjoy the shopping woe at every destination. Guys, I am back. So maybe with pictures to guide you. The Latest News On Farming Activity.

These are the latest photos I have in my fruit farm. They looks green, yes and at the same times a lot of grass. They looks lovely and it is a beautiful sight. The works never finish with this farm. I cut the grass with bush cutter and spray them. Sometimes, I hire someone to do it for me. But believe me, most of the trees have been there for more than ten years and quite a few already bear fruits. I don't care. It's like taking care of my family...never give up but to hope for the best of it. But these photos are only a part of the farm. There are more on the other side. It keeps me busy and I have the reason to go home every weekends and do some exercises. I used to play tennis before in MAKSAK Club and I am still going there once a while, right Geofrey?

A Reunion With Long Lost Friend

A friend of mine called to say that a long lost friend has arrived in Kuching from Labuan, He drives all the way from Labuan via Brunei to Sarawak and end up in Kuching. Salute you bro, Benedict Set is not as strong as you do. I love to see you very much and I am amaze that you couldn't recognise me any more. The last time we met was 20 years ago. At the time, I remembered you used to bully me bro. Am I right? Ha ha ha. Ya, I'm well feed now. You should come early of the month then we collect and have barbeque at our place. Bulan tua, datang bulan baru u datang. Pokai bro but yes we still can drink like we did that nite. I wonder Murphy still recognise me or I couldn't know him any more. The man I am talking about is Mr Cheah Tiong Aik from Penang. Crazy! supposed to transfer in 2001 to his hometown but swerved to Labuan. We were ex-Keningau Teachers Training College from 1985 to 1987. But ladies, he is married already. He was scared of girls till he met his wife. It's easy to recognise him even if you are blind coz he laughs a lot with such a unique sound. One of its kind, the only one in Malaysia. Very unfair, he sees my wife many times and yet he hid his in the hotel that nite.

Sorry bro I think the camera is too sharp coz the hair from your nose also can be seen.

There is one disadvantage of an easy laughing guy...before, in the mid and the finishing also you laugh. then people in the room next door can identify you but its better than snoring...hahaha!

If you can give me a good answer why the two faces is clean n smooth but mine on the left side is oily, apart from beer the others you tell me or I tell you. free drink!

Sarawak Mee Soup, Simple, Plain Yet The Best

Where else in Sarawak if not in Tiang Bekap, Jalan Padawan. To my mind, it's the best mee soup in Sarawak. It is owned by a Bidayuh entrepreneur from Kampung Krian. You don't believe,come and then you know. I think people from this area know how it is like. It is always full almost every Sunday. I guess to check whether a mee soup is nice and tasty, you look at the soup. Normally it is yellow in colour whereas those found in Town is plain, clear soup. That's the different. It is RM2.70 per bowl. Of course it is non-halal friends.

Maksak Regulars and Chinese New Year Gathering At Kuching Park.

All the MAKSAK regulars came for a dinner gathering at Kuching Park Hotel on the 12 of February 2010. More than 30 Maksak guys who used to play at Maksak came for the gathering. The activity was an annual gathering aimed at strengthening the ties among the players. It was opened to anybody and friends who cared for the group. Thanked to Mr Bong Custom for bringing a choir of entertainers from Bintulu to add to the excitement of the evening.

They are Mr John Mansion who is again admitted to the hospital from a complication he faced . I hope he recovers soon. Other absentees are Mr Benedict Set who is in Sabah for the Chinese New Year gathering with his family. Alister youngman and Ngiam Ah Hai also can't make it coz the dinner is too close to the Chinese New Year. Mr Collin Minoi... oop! I heard he was still high from the previous drinking session. A Wedding Ceremony I Have Attended in Papar, Sabah

Congratulation to Thomas Colin and his wife, Florence Joan, on his wedding ceremony held on the 6th of February. I came all the way from Kuching to attend his wedding. Actually, he is my second cousin from my wife side. So, I would like to highlight the events on the day. The location of the event is in Sabah, East Malaysia in case you are wondering the whereabout.

Colin the one above, looked pale...too much power waste. Whereas below...Ops! you are putting too much pressure onto your wife. Relax man! The nite is still young.

A tossing was done a few times I couldn't recall but the one below was the bride and the bridesgroom parents. The man in black is Mr Albert James, my cousin and our big brother. He looked cool but he cried at one time...crying of happiness, I guess.

The photo below...Are they alike? They looked like one. Incredible posing! The one in front has grown a lot of hair on the chin but the one at the back has none. Thick hair and hair everywhere. This shows that the janggut one is older than the other. The mouth, the teeth, eyes and eye brows all the same. Hi! Adrian still busy with life huh! our time is over, you can make it.

This is how the wedding ceremony look like in Sabah. Probably, there are similarities and differences with those weddings in the other parts of the world. But guys can't you see after looking at the photos, I feel that I am in Sri Lanka.

A DRIVING GUIDES FROM KUCHING TO KOTA KINABALU VIA BRUNEI

From the first impression, driving from Kuching to Kota Kinabalu is quite a tiring, challenging and time consuming. That is true but for those who are used to it, like me, the driving experience is really exciting, thrilling and I am looking towards it almost every year. The journey really teaches me to be disciplined on the road. The first time I heard of it, I myself was filled with disbelief that someone could make it.

I tell you why driving to KK from Kuching is worth an experience for me:

to try something you though is impossible.
learn and see for yourselves the long houses along the way·
to gain driving experience.·
to save cost the journey by flight.
to explore the journey experience via Brunei·
to be able to go anyway in KK and its surrounding area.
to explore beautiful National Park and Kundasang.

The petrol consumption for my Toyota Hilux 2.5 Turbo is roughly RM170 one way. Maybe flight does offer cheap fair but that needs early booking. The MAS ticket to Sabah from Kuching cost us more than RM3,000.00 for the whole family. My wife, who is a Sabahan has a free passage but we prefer driving because it give us freedom to move anyway in KK. We normally open our tickets for the following year back to Sabah. We use it for any occasions preferably for emergency causes.Of course, my first year experience from Kuching via Brunei to KK is a nightmare. Nothing happens actually but the feeling of uneasiness and scared to get out of the track is my number one fear. I would suggest you get some one to draw you a map of Brunei route and how to go about going through the Immigration Check Points. It would be better if you could follow someone who has the experience throughout the journey. Actually there is nothing to worry as long as you apply your driving courtesy on the road you will be saved. You may email me at paulsadai@gmail.com for helps.

The thing you need to do is make yourself a Brunei passport. It costs RM200 per person for 5 years. If you want a group passport, there must be 5 members at least and the cost is also RM200. International passport is also affordable nowadays. Then you have to prepare your car. Make sure that it is in the best condition by servicing it before you go. Actually any cars can do but I strongly feel that a four wheel drive has the advantages due to the condition of the road. That’s why I encourage my friends who have four wheel drives to try your driving across Borneo and even to the tip of Borneo, Tanjung Mengayau in Kudat. But if you guys ask me, I would strongly suggest you go to Kundasang and spend a few nights there. Of course you need a thorough preparation because the chalets need early booking as most of them are fully booked throughout the festive and school holidays.It is most advisable to drive in groups of two, three or more. I am willing to be your anchor whether from Kuching or when you are in KK. Never hesitate to give me a call. I am always there to serve you days and nights. Normally, I'm in KK during the school holidays.

So, this is most likely the journey tips from Kuching to KK via Brunei. We have to start as early as 5.30 am in the morning. If you drive at 90 km per hour you will arrive in Miri at around 5.00 pm. To be specific, you will reach Serian town in not more than half an hour. I would suggest you don’t have to take any breakfast but prepare some biscuits and plain water. This is to avoid you from shooting or peeing along the roadside. But don’t worry you still can stop at most of the small town like Lacau and Sri Aman. After that go straight to Jakar town. You may choose to have your breakfast there or go straight to Sarikei town. From there find your way to Sibu through RM5 toll Lanang Bridge. The journey is very short compare to Durin Bridge.To be continued...

The journey from Kuching to Miri is about 800 km +. The red line in the map below shows the road linking one town to another. It is advisable to spend your night in Miri.

The journey from Serian to Sri Aman will roughly one hour and a half. The road is just ok. The early you the better coz of less traffic at the time. The picture below is the restaurant at the junction of Sri Aman before you turn right to Betong and Sarikei upwards. Here you can go to the wash room. At one time from my previous experience, we have to stop a few times because we take a heavy breakfast at home. So, my advise to you is not to take anything but get somethings to eat on the road.

The journey from Sri Aman to Jakar is very comfortable as the road is quite smooth compare to any parts of the road in the state. Below is a snap of Jakar Town. You should be reaching here at 9.30 am and stop for your breakfast or proceed to Sarikei. Actually. I don't like to have my breakfast there because the stalls or restaurant there is very dirty and unhygienic. The food is not nice...am referring to Jakar. Drive along to Lanang bridge. The toll is RM5 but the journey is shorter compare to Durin. Find your way through by asking someone after the bridge. I am sure you can make it to the junction leading you to Bintulu road

The journey to Bintulu is about two hours plus on an uneven road. Drive carefully and be patience at all time. Some parts of the roads are good. There shouldn't be a problem for a four wheel drive to get through the road. On reaching Bintulu-Miri junction, stop at the coffee shop for a light refreshment. Kuching Bintulu trips need one full tank. Fill in your petrol at Bintulu. After that proceed to Miri which is a 2 hours and 15 minutes drives along the coastal road road. Half way journey towards Miri the road is very bad. There are a lot of bumps and we cannot drive fast. There are many Hotels and Inns in Miri that offer reasobnable room rate. Normally, I prefer to take a cheap but safe place for the vehicles like Tropikal Inn. The rooms rate is from 55 to 75 ringgits.

The next morning, I normally drive without taking my breaklfast. This is because I wanted to reach Limbang Town as soon as possible. If you started late, you will get stuck in Kuala Lurah because school holidays also started in Brunei at the same time as ours, so, most of them prefer to spend their holidays in Sabah preferrably in Kundasang, the salem cool country. That's why hotels in KK and else where are fully booked most of the time.

Inorder to cross over to Brunei, we have to driver along ASEAN Bridge. The toll is RM10. It is still under Malaysia.

This is the one kind of bridge which is high up above the land and river. The tallest in Borneo I guess.

After the toll plaza you will reach Sungai Tujuh checkpoint. The toll plaza cost RM10.

This is sg tujuh check point and the other side of Brunei. You need to stamp your passport and declare your car by filling in a form at Brunei Custom check point. To be

able to do that you have to get ready an insurance cover note or the car green card.

Sometimes when the timing isn't right we have to cop with long queues. That's why it is importance to plan your journey ahead. Go early...forget your breakfast...bring buns and water.

After that you will drive along Brunei road. You may choose to use the short cut Tutong road or the long journey through Jerudong Park. I prefer Tutong because I can save time and the route is very simple compare to that of Jerudong Park. Below is the Immigration at Kuala Lurah. This is the worse check point if you happen to arrive around noon because there are so many Bruneian going to and coming from Limbang. This is the view at Kuala lurah from Limbang side.

This is the Sarawak newest check point. So, far this is the best and coolest. You may stop at the 2 stars wash room.

Limbang The Cowboy Town and very lively at night.
Limbang is a also a place where you can shop liqours but very difficult to take it out through Brunei. They are as cheap as in Labuan.

Before this Temburong ferry we need to stamp passport at the newest Limbang immigration check point which is not far from here. This is another worse point whereby long queues await if we are not lucky enough.

The other side of Temburong, also in a queue. Sometimes, a forty minutes to one hour and a halfNext is the Puni immigration Check Point, Brunei side.

After that just drive straight and you will reach Labu the end of Brunei before entering Lawas.

Then, we will arrive at Sarawak Immigration check point which is also the newest. It is not in the blog. Below is the Trusan ferry. It is a RM10 ferry.

The bridge is almost 70% complete and is scheduled to complete by the end 2010.

Drive straight until you reach Lawas. You don't have to stop there. Drive till you reach the Sarawak Sabah check point which is the last obstacle that we have to face. Of course it is very tiring and challenging but a thrill awaits us because you have manage to cover almost the whole par of Borneo. Drive straight to Sipitang Sabah, Western, Beaufort, Membakut, Bongawan, Papar and Kota Kinabalu. The distance is very short that is around 400km but it takes another two whole days.

A Ttrip to Kundasang Sabah

Hi friends. Now I would like to share with u my experiences in Kundasang, Sabah last school holidays 2009. It was as always very interesting. It was our annual trip...something that we always do every year. These photos are especially dedicated to my close friend...a cousin Mr Jites Ringos. He was supposed to come last year but due to other circumstances, he couldn't make it. These are also for my friend Simson, who always go to Sabah but never been to Salem Country...woo...woo pity you. This is the real salem country, very cool...day time is manageable but nite time the coolness drop to 6 degree celsius only at Kiram Village. Wow! the extreme weather is chalenging for most of us. You better try it for yourselves.

Duty must come first...wife second...kebun third...n the rest anything including happy hour, tennis etc. Something really attract me regarding this guy pictures...very photogenic. I went there one afternoon just to check what's happening to the guys in Maksak. Biasalah waiting for the turn to play. I was waiting for the guys to invite me to Ah Liong. You must be wondering why these dogs are chained with slippers, cans and coconut shell. Actually neigbhours were complainning that their slippers were no where to be seen. Actually, the dogs loved to collect them and brought them to their master as a gift. What a good dog. Therefore, to stop them from collecting the slippers and shoes, the owner hanged the slippers and whatever so that they don't do it anymore. So far it works.

How I Spent My One Week Raya's Holidays

Normally school holidays are the days that everyone is waiting for. Parents want to be with their children coz all this while they are busy with their duties. Some would go for a holidays and some would go back to their kampungs. As for me kampung life is what I am waiting for. We must have a proper planning to make our life more meaningful. Bringing our children to farm, fishing, bathing in the river is a nice experience.

The video below shows how I spent my time with my children.

Apart from the one hectar farm that I already have, I am looking forward to an orange project this time. It is very far deep at the foot of a mountain. I'll bring more pictures of the project later on.

Raya shopping...mostly done by the ladies.

The first human creature God created was Adam and then Eve. After they ate the fruit in the garden called Eden, God told them that nothing would come easy if they don’t go for it. They started to have feeling towards each other and from then onwards men and women love almost cannot be separated. They say their love will never die but gradually at the end of the day the love would fade.

The main focus here is the relationship between husbands and wives, boyfriends and girlfriends. Everywhere I go I heard the issue of family relationship. Wives will say that their husbands are not gentle and caring anymore compare to their early years of marriage. Are we one of those who let our wives go shopping on their own? Yes, we send them but some of us disappear out of sight? That’s why I would like to know the outcomes from my closest friends and anyone who wish to share their opinions. You are most welcome.

Below are most probably our whereabouts while our wives go shopping.

· Waiting in the car?
· Have a cup of coffee at a nearby restaurant?
· Sit at a corner like the pensioner and watch free show in front of you.
· Send her and play our favorite games some where.
· Go to a different department.
· Accompanying your wives for a short while and excuse yourselves saying you want to check on your car.
· Let her go shopping and see your girlfriend secretly at the same Shopping Mall.

If you are not in those categories, you are a good husband. To my mind, shopping is a nice thing to do moderately. Do not exceed the limit. Husbands as well need to review their hobbies.

· Husband A says that his wife has a crazy shopping hobby.
· Wife A says that his husband seldom stay long at home.

If this matter is not solved, it can loosen the ties the ties that they have built for so long. There must be a give and a take.

It is a human nature to change due to age factor. Every stages of life have a different styles and momentum. At the age of 10 to 18, human beings are very curious about their opposite sex. They tend to explore one another secretly with their partners, surf Internet, read books and through other mass media. These groups of young children cannot be reliable. They are too fragile.

At the age of 20 to 30 they are called the teenagers. Teenagers tend to be more exposed nowadays. They will apply and practice with their opposite sex. They are very daring to hold hands, kissing and embracing in public as shown below.

But the same couple when they are from 30 to 40 years of age, their love is still intact but at this it is divided among the children. Apart from that when both are busy with their commitments in works they just don’t have time for their love.

I wonder why can't we walk the same pace...why should it be like this?

And the same couple will end up like in the pictures above at the age of 40 to 60. Couples will either one walk in front or at the back. Why? Probably due to health problems or maybe the love or the relationship has last its shine. In addition to that, when the wives go shopping the husbands would wait in the car for hours or sit a nearby restaurant. I think the wives love to show off their thigh and beautifully make-up faces to young guys at the Shopping Mall because you old guys one are of no use already. Never wake up in front of her. Most of them feel that they are still very touchy, sexy compare to the young ones. And guys at this age love to play at the back of the wives, for the young one by Cliff Richard said Mr Jonathan ak Ok. Are you one of those?

At 60 and above they walk at the same pace because they are old and slow down. This is the time they spend times together…thinking of the family at the early stage, the regret, the sin and the good things that they had done. Some look young again in term of their characters and behaviors. Do well to your children, give proper education that they need and they would be good to you. Maintain your farms and they will bear you fruits for ages. If you play tennis you will sweat n tension free but yr knee screw will sure be loosen.

A Future Retirement Planning with Mr Isai, Mr Wong and Mr bong

Everything is ok in our lives as long as we are young, we have enough money and our friends and family to enjoy it; but time goes by, and it goes by for us as well, and we must understand the fact that we won’t be young forever. As the time goes by we must decide what are we supposed to do with our lives when we grow old, we need to make a retirement planning. A retirement planning includes many things that involve our future, but its specific aim is to assure our economic future; people say that human beings are different from animals since they count with an ability they don’t have, the ability to think ahead and plan ahead. We also know it’s very tough when it comes to think about our retirement planning and we need a long term to prepare for it. Some of us think “we’re enough busy by planning our six month vacations and how are we supposed to plan our retirement?”.

However, thinking in advance by making those steps true, is the key to be ready for the future we have ahead of us; a retirement planning is necessary, is true that the youngest you are, the more distant our retirement seems. And many of us, when we reach that time, still feel strong enough to carry out another business; well, that is what the retirement planning is about: thinking of the future by making small business that could be extremely profitable for us and would be able to assure our future. There are many people who don’t want to accept the age the have since they still want to keep their job; well, we regret to inform you that sooner or later the manager of your company will tend to hire younger people and you’ll lose your position anyway. This happens in every single country, not only in United States; the government of this country allows people to get their retirement at the age of 50 with a good salary. Here the retirement planning is to take all the money you receive and start your new “job” by your own, something more relaxing which doesn’t involve stress. A retirement planning consists of two thing: you can take your retirement money and start a new job or find a “relaxing” way to make money (such us investments), or with that money, you can buy a nice country house to spend the rest of you life enjoying your time with your family and friends. The second option is very common in countries such us Canada or United States; many individuals decide they have served this community enough so now it’s their turn to rest and enjoy.

Some other enjoy their money by planning many trips around the country or abroad; many of us have dreamed of taking a plane and start visiting new horizons; this also happens to retired people. In United States at least 40% of retired people invest their money in journeys, trips, flights, excursions, campings, etc. They feel it’s time to have fun and forget about tasks, work and stress. And in fact this is the best piece of advice: when you retire make a good retirement planning in order to enjoy all those years you spend doing things in order to survive. But not many people is interested in enjoying the money they have received from the government after 30 years of service, there are others who prefer to invest their money in order to get even more, but without working, we call this “invest”. Saving bonds is a great option to consider, several companies offer a payroll deduction plan for those employees who are about to retire and wish to buy some bonds. An Estate plan is also very required for those are about to retire, in case you take one, you decide what happens to you and your relatives in case you pass away or if you suffer incapacitation.

A retirement planning also includes small business, and not only investments; many people at the time they retire they have been saving up to buy a small store near their house, and in that way they can keep on working as many hours as they decide. When we say “small stores”, we mean dvd clubs, small fast food stores, clothes stores, etc. Some others, on the contrary, with the money earned and some savings, they decide to establish their own business and not a small one. Ambitious retired people still think they have so much to give and don’t accept the idea of retirement, so when the moment comes they find their selves in trouble; we advise those who are close to the retirement, to think ahead and to accept facts the way they are. All of us, someday, will need a retirement planning with the aim of enjoying the rest of our lives with our future assured.

Only during the talk I come to know that his left aligment is out of balance and no wonder the face looks one sided. Jgn marah ya...

As I entered Ah Liong restaurant, I came across these two friends, they ordered stout but drink beer. How! Isai also miring sebelah must be the thing is out of service. A nice old friend who always pick out their wallets whenever food or drinks is served. Do that when I am poor but I will say it's American style when I dare to be in the party. They are Mr Bong the custom and Mr Isai Raja the Liverpool fellow. Pliz whenever we have a drinking session or happy hour especially to you Mr Liverpool, don't bring yr wife coz she really makes me nervous with my English...her nose already makes me feel short. Well, these two fellows are really preparing for their retirement. You are absolutely in the right move. We are all in the same boat. Well, maybe I am going to initiate a move to get a nearby land along the road side in my area for any of you guys...Geoffrey or Abai or Martin, maybe I would recommend. Let say from 10 to 20 thousand... I am sure these kampung folks will be moved by it. I'll try to get those nearer to mine. Are you interested? Pliz confirm. Ya a native land, where you can plant fruits and do some farming activities.

Early Exposure At Childhood And Gain Experiences

When I was a young boy, my parents used to bring me to the farm and hill paddy. You just name the sort of activities that we have in the kampung, I have gone through the experiences. I am so thankful to them for exposing me at my young age. It was indeed a very boring things to do when you have to follow your parents especially your father. I want freedom but I have to help my father in his works. He plants hill paddy. He brings me to find durian in the mountain. He also plants pepper. He brings me to tap rubber. He is good in wood works and he is the best in the kampung. Apart from that he is a well known black smith. I use to follow him to blow or heat the iron bar. Most of my afternoons after school are occupied accompanying him. I feel that our success in any fields depend on the support from your spouse or children. So, I feel that we should train our children to follow us to the farm or anyway we go. If we need to give them a rewards for the efforts well, I feel we should do it. The experience they gain is far more valuable than anything in the entire world. Maybe that's the things my father is trying to tell me. "Attitudes are caught not taught," "Nonverbal actions are picked up on. Kids don't attend to what adults say but to what they do. It's the saying, 'Actions speak louder than words.'"

The best thing parents can do when teaching their children about diversity is to check their own attitudes and beliefs, as children pick up on adults' nonverbal actions. We think we're open-minded, but oftentimes our actions and behaviors tell otherwise. "How accepting adults are of differences is what they model to children.

While there is not one best way to teach children about similarities and differences, young children learn best by hands-on activities. Children also do a lot of playing in their younger years, which is how they learn. Children are playing out life experiences, trying on different roles, "Who am I, what can I do?"

Learning about diversity is important because children need to learn to respect all people and understand that everyone is alike, but also different. Learning about diversity can also affect their social and emotional development. Learning to have respect for others is a lifetime social skill that positively impacts a child's developing sense of self. Teaching children to respect differences is also a beginning in the prevention of aggressive and violent behavior. When children can't be exposed to diversity naturally, I recommend reading books to them. If the books include images of different children, it will expose the child to diversity. Learning about diversity is also important for children because they now have more access to the world.

"We live in a global society," "Kids in preschool are much more aware of the world around them than the previous generation, through media, Internet, travel and computers. More access to the world introduces diversity."

Consequently, we do not really excel in our academic but most of us have achieved goals in our life. The diversity that we were exposed to have guided us to our present achievement. Though I am a government servant but I love to work and try what our parents have left for us. I am so happy to try something new. I have my fruit farm. I plant hill paddy. Though the outcomes is yet to show but I am happy to explore new things.

The pictures below show the latest development in me. My absent from my tennis is known to you. Sorry friend, whenever I play tennis, my knees will shake badly. At this moment it has recovered through lots of walking and on going nite activity. I am doing wet paddy with my brother. A lot kampug folks approached me saying that I should buy rice rather than to plant it myself. Frankly speaking I love to do my work and I am so happy to eat the new rice from our own efforts. It's really nice and I don't feel like to eat other types of rice. Anyway, almost every second of my free time, I would meditate and plan for farming activity and of course le tennis.

Come on lah Geoffery! you don't have to buy land to plant but buy fruit trees and I will plant. The end product will go back to you. He he he!

I always feel that I am handsome, am I? Yes when I was young and I am still now. It 's all depend on yr attitude towards yrself. Love and appreciate what God has created for us. This is my brother Anthony Aton clearing the land. Normally people spray it with paraquat but for us we try the traditional method that is cutting the grass with bush cutter. I remembered my parents used to have the long parang. Therefore, we are trying to modernize it a little bit. Furthermore, this is my first trial. That's why I invited my bro. Anthony as a partner and a mentor. In future, I plan to have it myself.

This is the part that we had cleared. It is not that big but maybe one and a half acre. It took us one and a half day to clear the whole field.

These are among the members who are regular MAKSAK players. Recently, the club has decided to enforce payment to those who play in the MAKSAK courts. According to Mr David Chong, the Kapitan, after a thorough discussion and a decision has been made that they have decided to pay RM10 per month for the regular players. The non members will have to pay RM10 per hour.

Our club is a multiracial group and comes from different departments throughout Sarawak. We are a group of friendly people who love to play tennis and engage in positive discusion. We are very commited towards our members affair.

As shown in the pictures above and below, this is our meeting point after games. The guy above is called Chief Jabu. He plays slow tennis coz the ball is too heavy for him. Whenever he can't take the ball, he will just say that it is an out, right Geoffrey? But he is a nice guy. That evening he spent us a cangkuk manis goreng bihun. We just had a cup of coffee...coz fahamx2lah.

From the left is Mr John Mansion, Mr Donny and Mr Micheal Jua. They are very particular about my missing in action and keep on commenting how healthy I am now. Well, I tell you that this year is a prosperous year for me. A lot of good news did happen to me. It is not easy to do this act but as human we sometimes come across something that is really entertaining. I think I come across a situation like this only once or twice in my entire life. I can't recall but I believe everyone will experience it, do you? Please share your experience in the comment's column. As for me, I think I am very free to express myself in a group of friends. I don't think this situation occur in front of your wife...correct me if I am wrong. Men and women will normally talk dirty words among themselves. Some incidents whereby both men and women do the dirty talk. How dirty? In my mind, those who do that are people who wish to express themselves freely. That doesn't mean they don't love their family. Actually, I see they are more happier than those who keep the knowledge or secret to themselves. They love their wife very much...that's why bad words are only for menginum time; good things or words, share them with your wife and children. Even my wife says that her staffs do lots of dirty talk. I feel that it can ease our tension. My advice to my friends, be wise and rational in our mind. People do the x for you to learn and get the skills. So, don't critics us for being so dirty minded. We go to church and know our limit...so, don't hesitate to be the slave in your own bed. Here comes the rain after sometimes of waiting. I don't know whether you believe the spell or not but sometimes it works. My wife started to fill the pails, basins and containers with water. My friends told me that if it doesn't rain soon, the whole of Kuching will have to reduce the usage of water. Before long, it started to rain that night. Whenever we have given up hope, on a certain issue, luck tends to come the very last moment. Do you believe that its luck or merely a superstition. Maybe its our instinct that make it to happen. When comes to this dry spell and the hot weather, it is indeed due to the south-easterly wind which brings dry wind to our country. Geographically, our country is blocked by the Indonesian islands. The wind that comes over to our country is a dry wind. The condition becomes worst with the burning season in Indonesia and our country. The dry season is supposed to continue till the end of September. But now it's only 17 Aug.2009. It begins to rain. It brings a relief to the people in this region. I think the main factor that bring rain is the typhoon that struck Taiwan ad Japan. So, the North-Easterly wind must have brought wind and rain.

People depend on rain water as the water in the river is in its low level. Some already dried up. The government has done cloud seeding in the affected area and it did bring the rain once. The crops and vegetables are hardly able to grow but now the situation has reversed. Rain brings life to human, plants and all living creatures.

The Water Board has decided to reduce the water distribution. Before this rain comes, I could see unhappiness or uneasiness among people especially those living in the rural areas. The price of vegetables has doubled because farmers could not plant their vegetables due to dry weather and haze. The flight were also affected and has to be rescheduled. The price of mask has increased due to haze and H1N1 epidemic. Businesses were affected because people are trying to avoid the haze and the epidemic. Tourism industry is also affected.

He advised people not to cut trees along the river bank because they are a source of food and shade for the fish. He also warned the people not to cut down trees as that would cause a climate change. He also advised the people not to throw rubbish to the river coz that would pollute the water. The Tagang system is a concept of protection, conservation and management of fish resource in the river. He also congratulated the kampung people for taking part in the Tagang system for there are only 42 places in the state that adopt the system. He also stressed the risen of temperature by 0.6 to 2.6 degrees celsius. He urged the people to take extra careful of the haze and H1N1.

I went home very late on the 8 August 2009. It was the eve of Tagang which scheduled to be held on the 9 August. But I was very happy because I didn’t miss the major on event that day. I went to the Kampung Water Front at around 7pm. It was very bright. A lot of people were there to do the last preparation for the next day celebration.
I was told that the youngsters planned to dive from Giyam to the Kampung . Fishing nets were placed in many parts of the river. The divers started the journey at 9pm. after dinner at the sight
I took the opportunity to join them but my trip was with the elder forks. The main reason I joined them was none other than to record the event. We used two rafts prepared earlier by the Kpg people. I tried hard not to wet myself or avoid from falling down. Otherwise, my camera would get wet. After about 10 minutes we arrived at the youngsters. They were shouting happily because they managed to catch fish. I took a few snaps of the happy moment.

This is my second elder sister. She is Lucy Jimui and her husband my bro -in-law Daron from Kampung Menjau. They have settled themselves in Kampung Menjau. I am very close to her and her present will remind me of my late mother. I miss my mother very much. Since she is there, I'll always talk to her about our life. Their children have grown up and they are quite free to go to farm. Maybe when we are at their age we are also very free I guess. Anyway back to my topic for today. They showed me their paddy field which they rented from a relative. It was quite big. We went there at 830 am this morning. I am so glad that they have invited me to join them. Once again the main reason for participating in the project is none other than to trai myself and prepare for the old days.

The photos above show the piece of land that I am about to clear for my paddy this year. It is about 10 minutes walk from the main road. It is quite dry right now but hope that rain will come and fill it with water. The grass is quite long I plan to use bush cutter. Actually, I'm sharing it with my bro Thony. Since this is my first experience, I need a someone who can support me. Most of the kampung forks keep on questioning me on why should I do it coz the work load is vey heavy. They said it is cheaper to buy rice. Yes that's true but nothing eating our our new rice is something to be proud of. I wanted to buy rice from these kampung fork but none wanted to sell. So, why bother if I plant paddy. Furthermore, it 's my own piece of land. Jealous I assume. To me, even though I'm doing it as a part time, but my strategy is to show that I'm able to work like them. When doing these things, am referring to farming, we need courage and persevere in our task. We must have a determination and be optimistic in order to succeed. Maybe I failed before this but that doesn't killed me. I'll always remember what my late parents did when they were still alive.

Haze in Kuching, Saturday, 8 Aug.2009

Today's weather is still the same as yesterday. No improvement. The haze is a little bit worse than yesterday. The source of this haze is most probably from the surrounding kampung. Some started to burn their farm or land for farming, specifically, paddy palnting. This picture is taken from Kampung Pulau Kandis at 910 am. As a result, many rivers are dried up and farming is very difficult at this stage. We hope that by September rain will come and give hope to farmer. So, right now it is not a wise thing to do if you intend to plant crops or trees.
The atmoshere around here is very warm. Most people prefer to stay indoor. I write this report with the hope that somebody in Sabah will do the same by reporting the weather over there.
